Sometimes I Feel Overpriced!

"What?  Know you not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which you have of God, and you are not your own?  For you are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."  -  I Corinthians 6:19-20

What a humbling thought: I was bought with a price.  Picture in your mind a landowner in a southern state going to an auction.  He bids on a slave who has been brought there from either a ship or another landowner to be sold to work in the fields.  The good landowner bids all he has to purchase the slave, simply to unchain him, give him a home and along with it freedom, freeing him from bondage.  An amazing thing that would have been.

Yet how much more amazing it is that Christ has purchased those who call Him Lord with his life, and more importantly, His blood.  We were filthy, unhappy, wretched souls, yet He felt we were worth His life.

Some days I feel very overpriced.  Consumer Reports would probably say that Christ did not get a good deal at all when He bought me.  Although my body will one day be sanctified by God, I am still caught in a struggle between who God wants me to be and who I was.  A tug-o-war between an adopted child of God and a sinful wretch.

Thankfully God owns me.  The Holy Spirit gives me strength, and the promise that I am His and one day sin, doubt, and temptation will no longer be an issue!
